Grade Calculator (Score to Percentage)
Turn a raw test score into a percentage and a letter grade. It divides points earned by points possible, multiplies by 100, then maps the result to a letter using a standard 90-80-70-60 scale (A, B, C, D, F).

How the grade percentage is worked out
This grades a single test or assignment. It divides the points you earned by the points possible, multiplies by 100 to get a percentage, then maps that percentage to a letter on the standard scale: 90 and above is an A, 80 to 89 a B, 70 to 79 a C, 60 to 69 a D, and anything below 60 an F.
It is deliberately narrow. Unlike a GPA calculator, which averages many letter grades on a 4.0 scale, this works on one mark at a time. And unlike a final grade calculator, which asks what you still need to score, this just reports the grade you already have for a single piece of work.

- The A to F bands are the common United States scale. Schools that use plus and minus grades or different cut-offs will not match exactly.
- It does not weight or combine assignments; for an overall course grade you would average several of these results.
Common mistakes
- Swapping the two fields, putting points possible above points earned, which inflates the percentage past 100%.
- Assuming the letter bands apply everywhere; always check your own syllabus for the exact cut-offs.
